Election Night Web Surfing: Politics.com

It's finally the end of the political season of 2008 and, while I will miss my 6-10 emails a day that tried to sway my opinion for one candidate or the other, I will not be too sad to see it over. It's really eaten a lot of my time and attention span trying to track the daily poll of who is ahead in what particular slice of the Americana melting pot.

With no spin and no talking heads, politics.com delivers the numbers with a nice flash widget that shows percentages based on the results as they come in, and allow you to drill down into each particular state to see the results in both the Electoral Vote and Popular Vote. Their chart that draws itself out with flowing animations just adds to my thrill of watching the numbers come in.politics-florida-drilldown.png

Yes, its barely a replacement for the nasal, dulcet tones of Wolf Blitzer, but for tonight it'll do...and it's better than any of the other sites I've perused (and yes, I've perused them all...). It's got me excited to see what they can do in 2012 with Silverlight...but that's because I am a nerd.

And yes, its even better than CNN's hologram they whipped up. Help me Obi-Wan Cooper.
