IIS 7 Back in Server Core
|
When I first heard about the Windows Server 2008 (nee "Longhorn") Server Core I thought about using it as a Web server, and was disappointed to hear that this was not an available use of the software. I guess I wasn't the only one to tell the company how disappointed I was because Microsoft just announced that, due to popular request, Server Core will support IIS 7. Still unanswered are questions about how Microsoft will resolve the issues that led the company to leave it out in the first place: specifically, the fact that IIS 7 requires the massive .Net Framework. One more note: This may or may not affect Jeff Jones' plans to retroactively recalculate the advisory history of a hypothetical Windows Server 2003 Server Core. IIS 6 hasn't had many vulnerabilities anyway. |
