Kentucky Gambling Domains Case Stayed by Court of Appeals

As reported on Poker News, the Kentucky Court of Appeals has granted a stay of a lower court's order to seize 141 gambling-related domain names. That order was made in a case brought by the state under its "gambling devices" statute, a law intended for things like slot machines. The motion to stay came from the Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association, which is affiliated with the domains playersonly.com, sportsbook.com, sportsinteraction.com, mysportsbook.com and linesmaker.com. Several other outside groups have joined the battle, including the Interactive Gaming Council, the Poker Players Alliance, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Center for Democracy and Technology, domain registrar Network Solutions, and the Kentucky office of the American Civil Liberties Union. |
